Journey Community Church Opens Second Campus
(PRWEB) May 13, 2010 -- Jim Wilkes, the lead pastor of Journey Community Church (www.journeycleveland.com), is building one of the fastest growing churches in America, despite Forbes Magazine recently listing Cleveland, Ohio as America’s Most Miserable City. Journey Community Church sits within the greater Cleveland area, in Fairview Park.
Incredibly, Wilkes has found great success in the not so highly touted city, and is now only a year after beginning the church, launching a second campus in Olmsted Falls, just six miles away from the campus in Fairview Park. With the addition of the second campus, Journey Community Church will have grown to over 850 in attendance in just 14 months. Recently, the Ohio Assembly of God District named Journey the fastest growing church in the district.
“The 2009 statistics on the 258 churches in our ministry network show that Journey Community Church, in Fairview Park, is the fastest-growing congregation in our state,” said Eric Schroeter of the Ohio Ministry Network.
“The vision that Pastor Jim and Jennifer have to impact the Cleveland area through multiple sites, that focus on making a difference inside and outside the walls of the church is quickly becoming a reality,” added Schroeter.
The second campus is located at 6941 Columbia Road, where RiverChurch was formerly located. The facility seats over 1,000 people where a celebration service will be held on May 30th to officially kickoff the new campus.
“Our vision and passion for Cleveland, is based on relationships,” said Wilkes of Journey’s success. “We feel God values relationships, and so do we.”
Journey has backed up their words by becoming heavily involved within the greater Cleveland community. The church commonly focuses their efforts on serving others in many ways which include food donations, car washes, lawn care, snow plowing, home repair, and assisting the disabled and elderly. Journey calls this ministry their Big Serve, and Wilkes credits this servant leadership model with the church’s rapid growth.
“If God was on earth today, He would be hanging out with the less fortunate, and we want to show the love of God without any strings attached.”
The Fairview Park campus holds two Sunday services starting at 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. The Olmsted Falls campus will offer one service at 10:00 a.m.
